Planning Your Trip

A little planning goes a long way to make the most of this trip. Here's what you need to know:

  • By Air: Agra's Kheria Airport is well-connected with major Indian cities. Though flights might be less frequent, it's convenient if you need more time.
  • By Train: Agra is well-linked with a network of trains across India. The journey is both economical and an opportunity to see the countryside.
  • By Road: Driving down to Agra can be quite an adventure. The expressways are in good condition, making the road trip smooth and enjoyable.

Must-Visit Places

Witnessing the Taj Mahal as the first rays of the sun kiss its white marble is an experience etched in eternity. The monument bathes in the golden light, offering a spectacular, mesmerising and soul-stirring view.

The Journey Experience

The journey on the Gatimaan Express is an adventure in itself. From the moment you set foot on the train, you're treated to the Indian Railways' hospitality. The seats are comfortable, and the large windows offer breathtaking views. It's a smooth ride, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.
Agra Fort
A stone's throw away from the Taj, the Agra Fort is a massive red sandstone fortress that encapsulates the grandeur of the Mughal Empire. Its intricate architecture and the history behind its walls are fascinating.
Mehtab Bagh
For a unique and less crowded view of the Taj Mahal, head to Mehtab Bagh. This char bagh complex lies directly opposite the Taj, across the Yamuna River, and is the perfect spot for some tranquil moments and picturesque sunsets.

Indulging in Local Cuisine

Agra's cuisine is a delightful homage to its rich cultural tapestry. Be sure to try the Agra Petha, a sweet made from pumpkin, and the spicy Mughlai dishes that testify to the city's historical indulgence in culinary arts.

Cultural Experiences

Take advantage of the opportunity to explore the local markets for handicrafts and souvenirs. A night walk through the city offers glimpses of Agra's vibrant life, people, and traditions.

Staying in Agra

From luxurious hotels offering views of the Taj Mahal to budget-friendly guesthouses, Agra accommodates every traveller's needs. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during the peak tourist season.
